When going to a gym for the first time it can be overwhelming. With so many machines and all sorts of people, it can be very confusing as to how to get started.
To help out with those new to gyms is Greatist, with six tips on how to get started in a gym. Number one, let people work in with you. Working in means to let someone use whatever equipment you are using while you are resting. It gives you a chance to meet some new people and possibly learn a new exercise.
Second, is to always be safe at the gym. When using machines be sure the pin is secure and when using free weights, to have someone spotting you.
Third, clean up your mess. If you took out some weights or equipment, be sure to put them back in their respective areas. Fourth, don’t get on your phone while you are at the gym. You are there to workout and that’s it. Fifth, if you are trying to do some work where you need space, find an area where you won’t be in the way of other people. Lastly, be sure to clean the equipment if you got sweat on it.
